The Victoria Lily
The Victoria Water Lily
This plant was discovered in 1801 in Bolivia. In 1837,the British botanist John Lindy named the plant Victoria Lily in memory of Queen Victoria of Britain.
This lily has a specially grown leaf diameter of more than 2.5 m.Also a mature leaf is about an inch thick and a mature leaf on water can carry a weight of 40kg.The lily plant is usually about 25 feet tall.
Due to this special leaf, this plant has also gained commercial value.
This plant has thorns on the underside.
As a result, underwater fish are unable to eat the leaf. This sheet is so large that it largely blocks sunlight under water. Because of this, the formation of algae is less.
